A German group activated the Chesterfield Islands with the callsign TX9 for eight days in the middle of October 2004. TX9 came on the air on Oct 14 at 09 UTC. The last QSO was logged on Oct 20, at 18:56 UTC after 23680 QSOs.

Chesterfield The Chesterfield Islands (IOTA OC-176), located in the Coral Sea at approximately 19° 52' South, 158° 19' East, are separated by more than 350 km from the rest of New Caledonia. ARANC's (Association des Radio Amateurs de Nouvelle Caledonie) application for membership to the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) was approved, qualifying the Chesterfields to become an addition to the official DXCC List, effective 23 March, 2000.

October 31, arrival in Duesseldorf/Germany

Budget The budget for the operation is $45,000-$50,000 U.S., so they are looking for funds. For those planning an operation, here is how that breaks down:  
13.700.-US$ for air fares
4.000.-US$ for cargo freight
4.000.-US$ for gear acquired in New Caledonia (tents, generator, water tanks...)
18.000.-US$ for vessel
3.700.-US$ lift onto the island (food, water...) (payment to skipper)
