| About Bernd - DF3CB |
| "Keep your city beautiful...
grow Aluminum!" |
| Bernd, born in
1962, is living near Munich, Germany and working as a software
developer of ERP (business) software. I had my first
phone QSO at the age of 5 but in 1974 at the age of 12 I was finally
infected by Amateur Radio when I began as SWL with the help of my
parents (now DF3CP and DL1MAO). Since 1977 I am licensed as DF3CB
and very soon found my way to High Speed CW, DXing and Contesting.
|
| My first major goal was to work 5 Band-DXCC with
100 Watts and two low dipoles. After having reached this goal, I upgraded
my station with my first home-brew amplifier and a tribander. Result:
the infection got worse over the years. I have consulted different
experts but it turned out that the infection cannot be cured at that
stage where I already was. So, I simply have to live with it. |
| I am also licensed as AL7MQ, member of our local
radio club DKØEE,
member of the Bavarian
Contest Club (BCC), the German
DX Foundation (GDXF), High
Speed Club (HSC) and the DIG. I like to develop Ham
Radio Software - I am the author of BV, the QSL Management and
Label Printing Software and other software. I like to travel and have
visited all continents. My favorite destination has always been the
U.S. where I have spent more than a year travelling on motorbikes,
used cars from the 70's or rented cars. I still need Hawaii to complete
my travel-WAS (Worked All States). |
| My current radio
station is located in a semi-industrial area - a few minutes away
from my home. The place is rented and it was an unique opportunity
to get it. The station consists of a radio room and three towers with
mainly monoband yagis. |
| The towers are spread over an area of some 10,000
square meters and more than one kilometer of coax and control cables
is used to connect the antennas to the shack. The station is optimized
for Multi-Single and SO2R contest
operation. |
| My main radio interests are DXCC
hunting (CW, SSB, RTTY) and collecting all DXCC entities and WAZ
zones on all 9 HF bands (160m to 10m) plus 6
Meters and Contesting,
mainly in the CQWW DX Contests CW, SSB and 160m. |
| I have worked all DXCC entities on Mixed and
Phone, need only P5 as my last one on CW,
8 more entities on RTTY. I have all WAZ Zones confirmed on all 9 HF
bands. CW is my favorite mode. |
| Bernd was the pilot station for some two dozen
DXpeditions, a few DXpedition
websites are hosted here at df3cb.com. |
| I am the QSL manager for LX7A, HKØ/DF5JT
and my own activities AL7MQ, AL7MQ/4, KL7/DF3CB, DF3CB/VY1, ZA/DF3CB,
DF3CB/ZP5, 9Y4W (Sep. 2005), 9Y4/DF3CB and so on. Send me an E-Mail
with your QSO data and I will reply with a QSL via the bureau. I confirm
all QSOs via LoTW. |
